Haaga-Helia Trainees at Marvel Consulting Group

Hello! Our names are Veronika and Victoria. We are students from Haaga-Helia University, where we study international business administration, but more specifically sales and marketing. We recently began a six-week traineeship at Marvel Consulting Group (MCG).

First Experiences: Learning the Ropes

From the very beginning, this experience has been both exciting and fast-paced, giving us an in-depth introduction to working in the real world.

Our journey began with meeting our supervisor, Sampsa, who promptly involved us in observing the company’s operations. From the start, we attended online sales meetings, gaining insights into client collaboration, Marika Karlström, the sales manager, taught us about Pipedrive, the CRM system that MCG uses, and we also worked on lead generation, where we got to put our brains into action.  While working on these first tasks at MCG we gained a deeper understanding of how data and statistics drive decision-making across departments.

Shadowing senior team members like Sampsa Siitonen, the CEO and one of the owners of MCG, gave us a comprehensive view of the company's operations and leadership. Meeting the founders and other employees made us feel truly valued as a part of the team.

Wellness at Work

We were pleasantly surprised by the weekly yoga sessions that we attended with other employees. Attending yoga as a group and having the CEO fully support this showed Marvel Consulting's commitment to employee well-being and a supportive culture.

Slowly Learning

In just one week, we learned the importance of building strong client relationships, gained hands-on experience with essential consulting tools, and saw how our contributions could make an impact. The fast-paced learning environment, combined with the support we received, made our first week at MCG both challenging and rewarding.

Creativity and Collaboration

At the equator of our traineeship at Marvel Consulting Group, we experienced a blend of creativity, collaboration, and growth. These values followed us throughout our time at MCG and shaped the way we would approach our tasks. Not all these values were explicitly defined as the company’s key values, yet they were always present and served as a positive force, driving our motivation and enhancing our overall experience during the traineeship.

Social Media Content Creation and Practical Business Skills

One of the key highlights was working on content for MCG’s social media channels. Initially, we felt unsure, but with the team's support, we gained confidence as we scripted, filmed, and edited videos and other forms of content. Seeing our ideas come to life and receiving positive feedback was incredibly rewarding. We got to work under the guidance of Lotta Backman, the community engagement manager, for most of our tasks that had to do with marketing. She gave us great feedback and helped us understand what is important to think about when creating content for a professional audience while letting us explore and show our creativity.

We also took on tasks such as organizing CVs, content planning, and observing business meetings, which gave us a deeper understanding of the company’s operations. It was gratifying to see our work being valued and utilized by the team, making us feel like true members of the company rather than mere observers.

Teamwork and Growth

Our experience was positively impacted by our ability to collaborate closely with each other and the team. Working side by side not only strengthened our skills but also allowed us to grow and contribute in a meaningful way.

End of Traineeship: Reflection, Highlights and Career Insights

Reflecting on our traineeship at Marvel Consulting Group, we are incredibly grateful for everything we’ve learned and experienced. Key highlights include creating impactful social media content for the company, building strong connections with the team, and gaining behind-the-scenes insights into daily operations.

Engaging in creative tasks and receiving constructive feedback from professionals was the most rewarding aspect of our traineeship. We gained hands-on experience in sales, marketing, and content creation, and learned the importance of data-driven decision-making across various aspects of the business.

A Memorable Experience

The supportive and welcoming environment allowed us to gain confidence and grow professionally. We felt heard and valued throughout our time at MCG, which not only clarified our future career paths but also made the experience both comfortable and exciting.

Working at Marvel Consulting Group has been an amazing opportunity, and we are incredibly thankful for the chance to immerse ourselves in a professional environment. It has been a memorable six weeks, and we want to extend our sincere gratitude to everyone at Marvel Consulting for their support. This experience will always be a cherished milestone and a significant addition to our resumes. Thank you to everyone who made this experience so memorable!
